Privacy Policy
We collect the minimum needed to sell you leather and ship it. No ad trackers, no data sales, no dark patterns. Last updated July 2026.
What we collect, and why
When you place an order: your name, email, shipping address, and what you bought — to fulfil the contract, send transactional email about it, and meet tax and accounting obligations. Payment card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor; they never touch our servers.
When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email and language preference, with double opt-in as required by Canada's anti-spam law (CASL). Every message includes an unsubscribe link that works.
When you browse: a cookie remembering your language choice, and your cart stored in your own browser. We use no third-party advertising trackers of any kind. Any analytics we run are self-hosted and do not follow you across the web.
Who sees it
Order data is shared only with the parties needed to fulfil it: Stripe (payment), Canada Post or the applicable carrier (delivery), and our email provider (order confirmations). None of them may use your information for their own marketing on our behalf.
We keep order records as long as Canadian tax law requires, then delete them. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights (Québec Law 25)
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or — outside legal retention obligations — deleted. Write to [email protected]; the person responsible for the protection of personal information at Smolten Leather will answer within 30 days.
If we ever suffer a confidentiality incident involving your information and it presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as the law requires.
